Outdoor recreation is more important then ever this winter so we are happy to announce that CROSS-COUNTRY SKI AND SNOWSHOE EQUIPMENT RENTALS will be available in time for this weekend!Although the centre is currently closed to the public for drop-in use, we have worked hard to develop a new equipment rental process for our snowshoes and cross-country ski equipment that will enable local residents to safely enjoy outdoor winter fun within the current COVID-19 restrictions. Due to limited equipment and high demand, rentals will be available on a short-term basis only. Please be patient as we implement this new equipment rental system and adapt it over the winter with changing restrictions. We are able to provide these rentals free of charge this year thanks to special funding from our sponsors. If you would like to rent equipment, please DOWNLOAD THE ATTACHED RENTAL FORM and submit it to info@borealbirdcentre.ca. If you have any questions, you can contact us at 780-849-8240 for more information. www.lslbo.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/NEW_COVID_SKI_SNOWSHOE_RENTAL-FORM-updated.pdf ... See MoreSee Less

Alberta Parks would like you to know that the ski trails from the Lesser Slave Lake Bird Observatory parking to Lily Creek Group Camping and to Marten River Campground are now set! The Marten River Campground loops are also set! Enjoy the sun sparkling on the snow and the chickadees calling! PLEASE NOTE: The road to the Lesser Slave Lake Bird Observatory parking is not maintained in the winter, so drive with care and it may not be suitable for smaller vehicles.A friendly reminder to kindly not walk or snowshoe on the set ski tracks. The portion of trail next to the ski tracks is packed for walking and snowshoeing. Please also remember that dogs must be on leash at all times on all park trails. This is for their safety as well as the safety of the wildlife who make the park their home. Winter is a tough time of year for wild animals - let's not make it tougher by having dogs roaming off leash! It is also for the comfort of other trail-users who may not be as comfortable with dogs as you are, and to keep dogs from trampling the set ski tracks. Let's all help each other enjoy what winter in the park has to offer! ... See MoreSee Less
