Transportation provided from Devonshire Beach parking lot
   
6:00 – 10:00 AM Boreal Bird Experience Hikes every hour on the hour
(Pre-registration required on site): $8/adult   $4/child
   
8:00 – 10:00 AM Pancake Breakfast (bring some toonies)
   
8:00 – 12:00 PM Tours of the Boreal Centre for Bird Conservation
    –tours of facility and exhibits
    –special LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) tours
 

Kids Activities (ongoing)

  • Bird house building (build your very own bird house!)
  • Migration Game (discover the challenges bird migration poses)
  • Human banding station (want a new piece of jewelry? Come and get banded!)
  • Face painting (birds, bison, berries, bugs – the possibilities are endless!)
  • Bug dipping (what lurks below the surface of the lake may surprise you...)
  • Crafts including 3D bird mobiles and bird cards (put your craft skills to the test!)
  • Name That Duck Game (so you think you know your ducks?)
12:00 – 1:00 PM Special family presentation by Chris Fisher
  Chris is co-author of Birds of Alberta and hosts Wildfiles.TV, a children’s nature show. He was also the writer for the Acorn the Nature Nut television show.
   
Admission to the festival: $12/person, $40/family
Admission includes transportation from/to Devonshire Beach parking lot (Saturday and Sunday),
free children’s activities, two bird houses per family, presentation by Chris Fischer

7:00 – 9:00 AM Boreal Bird Experience Hikes (on-site pre-registration required)
   
9:30 AM – 12:00 PM 2nd Annual LSLBO Bird Run/Walk
   

5K – start at Northern Lakes College
10K – start at Devonshire Beach

then pick up your race package Saturday June 3
from 8 AM –12 PM at the Songbird Festival
(Boreal Centre for Bird Conservation)
or
Sunday June 4 from 8 – 9 AM at Northern Lakes College.

Entry fee includes t-shirt!
